Why should I think about a gardener? Its January

It is raining, it rained yesterday, and it will rain tomorrow.

The absolute last thing most people are thinking about is going out into their garden. But not me. I may be sheltering from the rain, but I am also planning exactly what needs to be done to the garden the minute I can get out there. You see its the early preparation that makes a garden so wonderful in the spring and summer. If you wait until a beautiful June day to start, it's already too late.

Things I am thinking about, and doing when I get a break from the rain, include

  • Making a list of what worked in the garden last year and what didn't, what needs to be moved or rethought?
  • Planning where I can put any new beds, these need digging as soon as the ground dries enough for the mud to not clog your boots
  • Looking through seed catalogues and making a list of what I want to plant
  • Cleaning out the shed, sharpening tools and cleaning all my pots
  • Keeping on top of the weeding

If this all sounds a bit too much, you feel you are stuck in a rut, or if you would like a lovely garden but you don't have the time, energy or inclination to, then you need some support from a gardener like me. I love this stuff and can help you through it. If we start having out chats now, then by late spring, you will have a beautiful garden to sit back and enjoy
